Hey family, woah can someone tell me where May went? Is it just us or did it fly by?
Our landlord has us scrambling to find a place in the absolute worse time to be looking for rentals.
This might be why May seems like it went in a flash for us. Just maybe…
He let us know a few months ago he might want to sell at the end of the year which quickly turned into right now.
We wish we were in a position to buy but unfortunately we did not make enough to make that happen this past year and honestly it’s not a good time to buy with how inflated the prices are right now.
So much for him looking for a long-term tenants. And I know we aren’t the only ones in this awkward situation, it’s definitely not a good time to need to find a rental property.
Between people taking advantage of COVID renter’s protections and basically squatting (so not okay), landlords and investors cashing in on a seller’s market, people leaving New Jersey selling their properties, and an influx of New Yorker’s escaping… Well just say we have seen places be rented in 48 hours or less and being contacted by well over 300 people in that span of time. Eek.
And as of this week my landlord let us know maybe just maybe he might not sell this year now. Come on dude, you got my 8th grader going into high school frantic about her future and the looks of any type of maybe relaxing for even just a weekend this Summer out of the question.
Yeah, it’s been a rollercoaster! So if it seems like we are a bit behind on well everything here at Enter Shaolin, it’s because this is what’s going on behind the scenes and we are doing our best to stay healthy and sane while juggling it all.
Actually everyone in Enter Shaolin has their roofs over their heads in question right now. I did try to convince both Sifu’s we should all just buy a used are RV and do a mobile country-wide training tour and live on the road…
What do you think fam?
Am I on to something?
But so far, I am the only one on board. But I personally think that would be much more amazing than paying too much for rent and having our lives at the hands of landlords or mortgage companies that can just turn on you in a dime.
But hey, that’s just my thoughts. LOL
I also tried to get them to move to South Carolina or my home state Florida and while I did get more reception on that, everyone is still not on board. Come on ya’ll!
Enough about us, how are you? I pray in much more stable and peaceful ways! (Give us a shoutout in the comments and let us know how you are doing.) 🙂
The end of this month brings about an important day of remembrance here in the United States of America. Today is Memorial Day a day were we honor and remember all the fallen soldiers who lost their lives during their time serving our country.
Sifu Larry and I both lived military lives though quite differently and even both almost signed up to be in the Army in our younger years. We all have family that has served and we know the toll of loss and those who come back but are gone in other ways due to PTSD.
This is Sifu Larry’s Grandfather’s (Larry A. Rivera Sr.) gravestone. As you can see, he was a dedicated soldier of the U.S. Army.
Sifu Larry was a military brat growing up and I was a young military wife. We have many family members that have served our country in various wars and ways. Being a part of the military whether physically serving or being family to those that due definitely comes with its trials and rewards.
This is why we are diligent to honor those that have fallen, those that have served, those that serve and the military families past and present.
What about you? Have you served your country or have/had loved ones that did/do? (Give us a shoutout in the comments and let us know.)
At Enter Shaolin, we want to help rehabilitate people completely mind, body & spirit. Two tools we have at our disposal that help combat chronic stress, depression, anxiety and PTSD are Qigong & Tai Chi.
They are both forms of moving meditation. Though both have a lot of similarities, they both also have some differences. We recommend people starting with Qigong and then adding on Tai Chi to have a well rounded wellness routine.
Here are 7 articles & studies about various benefits from Stress, Depression, PTSD, Chronic Fatigue, Chronic Pain and more that Qiqong and Tai Chi can help with…
- Qigong and Tai-Chi for Mood Regulation
- Tai Chi and Qigong for the treatment and prevention of mental disorders.
- Qigong-Based Therapy for Treating Adults with Major Depressive Disorder
- Tai Chi for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain
- Qigong in Injured Military Service Members
- Antidepressive Effects of Baduanjin Qigong Exercise in Women With Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
- Tai Chi proves feasible and beneficial for vets with PTSD
And that’s just some of their usefulness when you include them in your daily wellness arsenal.

Thank you brother for the prayers! God bless!

Hey guys
The thought of doing remote country-wide training is a great idea… I feel that you would have to consider the families and how they truly feel about the ideal of doing it.
So I would suggest that you get together with the team to discuss the pro & con of the ideas, see what are the benefit, and plan where are the most useful places that you can travel that will give best rewards for your journey… look at it as an adventure to see how much you guys can give to those who wants to get really personal and to be trained with Enter Shaolin (just my thoughts).
The most important thing to do is to pray and let the Lord God give insight and clarity.
Sije Jamie Pelaez says
I was talking about bringing the kids on the road of course, so there’s no worries about that.
But it’s no use at the moment as I can’t get the guys on board. But hey, they did eventually cave on making Enter Shaolin, so never say never. Right!?
I know what The Most High is saying, He just has to work on the guys a bit more. LOL ????
Jerry G says
YES!!! RV tour! Save a bunch of money and make a bunch of money. Folks are eager to get back to seminar training but traveling back east is not in the cards for many of us. I bet you have students in most every state. How cool for them to get to train with you guys in person plus establish contacts with other Enter Shaolin family in their state.
Thanks for all you do for us!
Jerry
Sije Jamie Pelaez says
Brother Jerry, you are seeing the vision! Now if only both Sifus or even one of them would. LOL!
John M says
I always wanted to take take an rv trip across country i always wanted to see all the other states and visit different hotels and restaraunts and live on the road so i feel ya sijje jamie. I would tell people if i hit the lottery and was rich id live in an rv and just go all over the country. I will keep you guys on my prayers god bless
Sifu Larry Rivera says
Thank you
Sije Jamie Pelaez says
That sounds awesome. But don’t wait until you hit the lottery. So many people have done this with way less money than you realize. It can actually save a lot vs. owning a home, or renting, etc.
Check out some of the RV families sharing their journey and tips on youtube. 🙂
Thank you for the prayers. God bless you too!
Shanna says
YES ! RV Trip! You guys need to travel to Southern Illinois!
Sije Jamie Pelaez says
If I could get the guys on board we would hit up all the states that we can drive to of course. 🙂
Ed D. says
while it sounds nice, most people I’ve spoken with who do this are very financially secure. as one old timer put it, are you ready to shell out fot breakdowns and towing expenses? not that it will happen but definitely can happen and could disrupt a tour schedule severely.
a lot of my family served in the military including myself. i suffer from ptsd and it makes it almost impossible to move. i absolutely hate the phrase now ‘thank you for your sevice’ it p.m.o. so much. i get that all the time while trying to find a place to rent, then they find out im on section 8 and the next line is always ‘im not renting to you people’ … so to me it just a bs political correctness statement now.
focus on seminars. people will come to you. i most likely wont because i have trouble leaving my house to go food shopping. but i will still purchase a ticket to support you. ill just be there in spirit.
Sije Jamie Pelaez says
Hey Ed, I have met many people and also seen plenty share online that have taken to the roads and because they are saving a lot month to month (most who are doing this are staying in one location for several months at a time usually) so maintenance, etc. is not a big issue. Also most have memberships or insurance that cover towing expenses. Basically prep for potential issues so if and when they come, it’s not so bad.
I am sorry you are suffering from PTSD. I am also sorry the thanking you for your service gets to you like that. It tells me a lot about how you have been treated. Please know as someone that was married to a man who got PTSD through his service, that saw how flawed the system can be, that me thanking you or most people thanking you is truly heartfelt and for some of us because we truly know what you are going through as we have seen our family members go through it, etc.
There are places that specialize in working with Section 8 renters and some people even prefer it. Though sadly some have been turned off to it from having bad experiences as well. Where do you want to live? I can help find locations that specialize in section 8 to help if you like.
If you would like to talk brother, I’d like to help you more with what you are going through and your healing journey. Let’s get you to a seminar in person. 🙂 God bless brother.
Dan N says
I’m sorry to hear what you guy’s are going through. We have a friend staying with us because her former apartment was being sold and she had 2 weeks to find a place to live. And that was before Covid hit. All though it wouldn’t solve your living situations, have you thought of locations such as The Y, senior centers, or churches? Our class trains at a local church.
I’ll keep you in my prayers,
Dan
Sifu Phu Ngo says
Hey Dan N, thanks, we could use the the prayers you can give.
Paul R says
RV living would be good for maybe a month at best. The whole extended family with children would make it much less for me. By a three family building (or a two family with apartment over the garage) for a home base. Garage works as a studio as well. Tour when the schedule fits.
Thanks all of your families for their service to our country. Many in my family served including my grandfather and father. My condolences to those whose family members did not make it home safely.
If you are looking to relocate then come to Maine. Fantastic place and many locales have reasonable prices with some rather outrageously priced places. Foreigners (read out-of-staters) are buying up places in southern Maine because their areas are overpriced.
Pray all works out for everyone.
Sifu Phu Ngo says
Hey Paul R, we appreciate all you said. Thanks so much for being a part of Entershaolin
