My Kung Fu Journey | Qigong Feelings, C.O.R.E. Training Modifications & The Perfect Punching Bag

April 27, 2017 By Robert Taylor 5 Comments

MY KUNG FU JOURNEYHey gang! It’s been a few weeks since I last wrote on my training. Sorry real life got in the way big time! I had to have my gal bladder out and it is taking me some time to heal. But, let’s talk about the prior weeks though.

I really started to work hard on my Qigong. I felt tingling all over my body as I was doing the first few exercises! Has anyone else felt this? I asked Sije Jamie and Sifu Larry about this and they the smiled at each other and said something about meridian lines. Have no clue what that is, but I fully trust what they say! 🙂

Here in a few weeks I plan on sending in my first review video to Sifu to see how well I am progressing. Nervous as all get out about this, and I am having one hell of a time getting bent totally over for the one exercise. I go down as far as I can (which isn’t far at all). Sifu Larry and Sije Jamie told me not to worry and to go to where I can and overtime I will be able bend further.

I am having a truly hard time with some of the C.O.R.E. training as I have no feeling in my right leg, buttocks, and small of the back. The exercises especially the abs workouts are tough! I need to talk to Sifu and see how we can modify them so that I might be able to do these better. At least till my back gets stronger. 🙂

Working on my grip and forearm strength. Sifu Phi, I think you are nuts! I have not been able to do this hand exercises and then the push ups (had to use the wall) past 300 times. By the time I do 500, 10push ups,  400, 10 push ups, 300, and then 10 more push ups my arms feel like jello!!!! I am progressing further each time I practice these though!

Besides this, I am a leather worker and in my spare time I have been working on trying to perfect a leather punching bag. I am really, really, really close to making one that is rice or sand filled and can take a heck of a beating! Also attempting to make a leather wrapped hard striking surface so I can work on strengthening my knuckles, forearms, and finger tips!

Will keep you all posted of my progress!!

Your Brother,

Bob

Hey buddy! Great update! I hope you heal well, and congrats on the abbot membership!

Keep up the good work. I’m still waiting to feel the tingles myself. The only one I start to feel it with is circle the ball.

Those pushup routines sound really difficult! Good luck! You got this!
