Sifu’s Corner – Ngo Dac Na Jab Strike Response

April 24, 2014 By Enter Shaolin 13 Comments

For the past few weeks, we have talked about starting a weekly series where we grab questions and comments from our YouTube viewers and have Sifu answer those questions via video. We weren’t sure when we would start them, so we figured there’s no time like the present! If you have any questions you would like addressed, just leave us a comment.

If we use your question, we will be sure to tag you in the response!

This week’s questions come from SifuRaul.

…He says,

This is the video he is referring to…

Here is the question again…

Here is Sifu’s response…

We would love to respond to your question or comment on YouTube…  If you have any Kung Fu questions you would like addressed, than leave them in the comment section below.

We will do our best to keep track of the questions and answer as many as we can on YouTube. SifuRaul wasn’t actually asking a question, however we felt that we needed to clarify what we were saying. This way there isn’t any confusion in what we are teaching.

 See you soon!

Thanks for sharing. Speaking of dealing with the boxing jab, how would one deal with boxing clinches or avoid being one? Could you possibly do a video demonstration? Thanks.

For myself, I understand conceptually the things Sifu has been discussing but experientially it is a different story. What can we practice on our own either with a Dummy or in the mirror or on a wall bag when we don’t have a partner to improve structure and energy. Some drills or exercises to do alone outside of class would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Dear Sifu,

Would you be kind enough to enlighten us with your nutritional intake on a typical day as a seasoned martial artist. By knowing what solids and fluids you personally consume, I feel it will be a wonderful supplement to our physical training/workouts and of course enhance our qigong exercises too? Perhaps you could implement a dedicated nutrition video category that comprises of a type of pre-recorded cooking programme that shows us members what you and the enter shoalin family at NJ consume i.e alkaline vs acidic etc? Let me know your thoughts. Thank you very much!

Hello Sifu, I was hoping to see some drills in wing chun with a jong. I’m just starting out so I’m taking in all the videos, but I love the concept of practicing on the wooden dummy. Do you or will you have any videos on that.

Thanks so much for what you are doing.

No worries on the wait. I am just so excited on discovering your website and wanting to learn. I’ve dabbled in martial arts but nothing solid. I’m 34, but just recently realized how much wing chun fits my personality and can’t wait to try and absorb as much as possible.

Again thanks for what you do.

    Sifu,
I just purchased a rice bag training station with the flexible “arm.” Do you think you would be able to make a video demonstrating some drills for beginners using this device? It’s a little harder to figure out than I thought it would be, and the videos on YouTube videos I have tried to watch go too fast for me to see and understand what they are doing, and I don’t want to learn things the wrong way. I know you have a few demonstrations at the end of some of the your videos, but having some together in one video with various drills and combinations would be really helpful. I would be very grateful if you could post something like this!
