Hey family, how are you this week?
We’ve had a lot going on. May 1st was our 2nd year anniversary, so to celebrate we had a sale as many of you already know. 🙂
We’ve also been battling loosing loved ones from Sifu Larry’s grandmother being laid to rest Monday to Sifu Larry’s family dog Sanchez having to be put down yesterday.
I’ve been hearing all kinds of funny stories about Larry’s grandmother and all his found memories. Which reminded me to love on my loved ones an extra bit more and to let them know how I feel about them just in case they forgot. 😉
These past few weeks have been a great reminder to forgive and to not wait to make amends, because we never know when it might be our turn or someone we loves turn to leave their earthen vessel.
If you have anyone in your life that you love but you’ve been keeping distance from because of something that happened long ago, take some time to reach out to them and make amends. Maybe they will accept, maybe they won’t. But at least you will know you have tried. Don’t let it come to a place in time where it’s too late to try as that’s a heavy burden on one’s soul.
Here is a picture Sifu Larry shared with me and Facebook of his Grandmom Antoinette, can you guess which one is Sifu Larry?
Besides the sad moments of loved ones leaving this realm, it’s been raining and raining for almost a whole week now. We’ve seen the sun peak out a few times for a tiny bit but mostly it’s been gloomy. We are looking forward to whenever the sun decides to rejoin us! How’s the weather where you are at? Are weather seems to be really confused about what season it is. LOL!
Sifu Phu has been preparing to go to Israel for his trip, that combined with everything else has made for an interesting week.
But despite the gloominess and unexpected events we’ve made the best of it. I put in some extra hours throughout the week so Sifu Larry could take care of his family’s needs and just rest.
I also made their pup Sanchez a special breakfast and bought his wife who loves Sanchez more than words one of her favorite wines and some dark chocolate to finish it off. Sifu Larry and I rarely ever drink, but we decided we couldn’t let her have a glass of wine solo, so we all toasted to Sanchez. 🙂
Here is my tribute to Sanchez:
If you believe in praying, please say a prayer for Sifu Larry’s wife Erin as Sanchez was her world. Thank you in advance family! 🙂
Due to not having Sifu Phu and Sifu Larry around much this week, we concentrated on the must get done stuff only. Which was customer service, the sale, getting your new training out to you, getting business cards made for Sifu’s trip and some exercise and training. Without that last part combined with clean plant based eating, I’m not sure how I would have handled all the extra demands and surprises of this week.
For those that just joined us via the sale welcome! For current members that took advantage of our upgrade Abbot sale congrats! Having this sale helped us bring in some extra funds which will help us upgrade our lighting and some of our computer equipment all which desperately need to be upgraded, so thank you, thank you and THANK YOU!
This week besides being a great reminded to not hold a grudge and to extend the olive branch and make amends, is also a great reminder at the importance of taking care of ourselves mind, body and soul.
If we weren’t eating clean and exercising and taking time to cultivate our minds and spirits, these past few weeks would have been much harder. Did we cry? Sure. Did we have some set backs? Yup. But did we let all that has been going on take us out of the game? Absolutely not.
I get emails all the time about people not training because they’ve been so busy and I know most tend also let things like eating habits and exercise go to the way side when things get hectic and busy. It happens, I think if we are all honest we’ve all been there a time or two.
However, at some point we have to come to the realization that we can’t take care of anything or anyone very well if we aren’t taking great care of ourselves first.
Being an ex people-pleaser, I often put myself last. It seemed like a heroic thing to do, but in the end it was really not helpful to anyone at all. Because we can’t be our best when we aren’t investing in taking care of ourselves.
So I implore you regardless of how busy you think you are, find the time to take care of you. Even if it is short burst of training and/or exercise, just do it! Some weeks we get hour long lessons in several times a week, other times it’s 5, 10, 15 minute chunks. But in all cases when we choose to find the time to train, exercise, eat right, etc. beautiful things happen.
Stress isn’t so stressful, sad moments don’t overwhelm us and depression can’t stick around for long at all. Taking care of you will give you the energy and resources you need to handle whatever comes your way. Don’t neglect you, find time for your health and well being so you can truly serve those in your life to the best of your abilities, including yourself! 😉
Enjoy your weekend family, make sure to tell your loved ones how you feel about them and promise to find more time to take care of you, if you have been neglecting yourself lately.

The news about Sanchez reminds me of my own dog who had to be put down the beginning of this year. Sometimes I think I hear her tail thumping but she’s not here. I know though that she is happier where she is with no more old age problems.

Hi Melani, the best we can do as masters is to give our beloved pets the best life possible. If there is one thing I have learned from my dogs is that it’s important to just be in the moment and enjoy every minute of it.
San enjoyed his senior years in life. He went to sleep peacefully with his lady at his side.

Sorry to hear the loss of a loved one. I lost my father last year, my mother is very ill with a brain tumour, her care takes up a lot of my time. both my wife and I lost our jobs. I found work my wife did not and turned to the drink. It has been a very hard year. I have come to realise that I spent too many years working hard, long hours …… life is short and I a only here once. I should of allowed more times for the things I love which was my martial arts. I love the way you explain things, thank you for the emails and information you give freely. I would love to be a member but my finances are not good at the moment, I do believe things will change but until then I shall train the little bits I do know. Respect to you all, hence this reply to your latest email.

Thanks Julian, and we are glad you are enjoying our content.

Will definitely say a prayer for Sifu Larry and his wife Erin. Losing someone you love is hard on anyone. Add to that losing a loving pet (pet are as much part of the family as one born into it) and it is a major depression. I believe Jesus will provide comfort for them and their family as well.
Sifu Larry and Erin: May you cherish the memories of both your grandmother and pup as you deal with the grief of their passings.

Thank you Paul.

Hello
I too had a puppy dog (Patch) for a long time – extremely loyal, stood between my wife and a snake and took the snake bite for her, and still stood his ground. Whenever we had new people come into the house, he always use to sit between my wife and the visitor, just in case he was needed. After two lumps (tumors) being removed, at the nice old age of 13 years, I think the pain started to get to him, and he started growling at the people he was suppose to protect.
He might be resting now – but he will always be my puppy dog. I understand what Erin is going through, but the happy memories will always be there.
Cheers
Steve
