How many things in your life have you been meaning to do or need to do that you don’t ever seem to get to? The reason why that happens doesn’t really matter, what is important here is understanding what it takes to break down barriers in your life so that you can start moving forward in all that you do.
For some people it’s something as small as loosing that extra 1o pounds. Maybe it’s a life-changing decision. But for some reason whatever it is, it never seems to get accomplished. Even though they say they really want to.
Here at Enter Shaolin we firmly believe that the only way forward anywhere and with anything is the ability to lift up your mind, body and spirit.
It sounds so simple, doesn’t it? All that you need is the formula to plug into and boom you did it. The problem that so many people run into is they don’t actually lift up their mind, body and spirit first. They start out with good intentions sure, but ultimately patience is something we have very little of.
Part of the secret to breaking down barriers in your life and getting to where your heart tells you that you need to be is by understanding that you can’t just focus on the mind or the body or spirit, you have to focus on all 3. Literally, you have to focus on all three aspects of your life together in it’s totality in order for you to start making real meaningful change in YOU. That’s the important part.
As Sije Jamie says, “If one is off, they are all off.” This is why you can’t just work on one and then go to the others.
Every adversity, every failure, every heartbreak, carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” – Napoleon Hill
We are always putting the cart before the horse. Maybe we want to lose weight so naturally, it makes sense to start exercising. But have you considered other than being a little more fit or healthier the real reason why you haven’t started already?
It doesn’t matter what is holding you back it really doesn’t, what matters is what you are doing about it. All meaningful change comes with pain. That pain can be mental, it can be physical and it can be spiritual. In many cases it’s all three. It’s often this pain that keeps people from getting out of their perceived comfort zone.
I couldn’t tell you why pain spurs growth in those areas of life, all I can tell you is that it does. There is example after example after example of that being true.
Maybe it’s spiritual pain, maybe it’s physical or mental, in all cases, there is a fight to face.
I won’t sugar coat it either, sometimes you are going to feel like you want to crawl up in a ball and just weep. Other times you may feel like you can’t move any part of your body because you never have been as sore as you feel.
However you get there, you have to be at a breaking point for change to happen. It takes something extreme to get your fight or flight instincts to take over.
You have to get sick and tired of being sick and tired.
That’s why there are so many rock bottom to success stories. It’s because that’s what it takes to get to a breaking point. I wish it wasn’t that way but it is.
Some people choose to fix things before such great lengths of trials and tribulations, but let’s be honest for most they are stubborn and often too prideful to self-correct before hitting rock bottom.
There is a silver lining though, the good news is regardless of which camp you are in, if you persevere you will come out of the fire the most amazing you version of you. Because losing 10 lbs is nothing compared to being fitter than you ever have in your entire life, mind, body and spirit.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13
Nothing compares with a good night sleep knowing that your life is exactly what you hoped it would be and that you are showing up in your life each day choosing to be the best version of you.
Here at Enter Shaolin, we help give you the tools to tear yourself down so you can build yourself up. Becoming an amazing martial artist is nothing compared to living the rest of your days in peace and joy.
I encourage you this week to spend some time with yourself really thinking about the things you want out of life. Ask yourself why haven’t you gotten them, yet?
And just know, that if you really go for it, if you really put your heart and soul into it, you can achieve amazing things. People who seem extraordinary to you where ordinary at one time in their life. A no rags to riches story or other miraculous stories happened overnight. They all started with a desire to not stop, to not quit, to persevere, to keep going day in and day out.
A single event can awaken within us a stranger totally unknown to us. To live is to be slowly born.” – Antoine de Saint-Exuper
