Enter Shaolin Updates | What’s New This Week 7/15/2016

July 15, 2016 By Sifu Larry Rivera 4 Comments

Hey Family, how is your training going this week? Keep us posted in the comments section… Not only does it help us to know how you are doing but by checking in each week it holds you accountable for getting your training in. So it’s a win-win! 😉

This past week we used the Facebook live feature to test out some ideas we had brewing to get the word out about Enter Shaolin. We didn’t let anyone know we where going to do it, we just wanted to see what would happen if we went live with no notice. We ended up having a really good turn out and it was a lot of fun too.

Next time we do one though, we will let you know in advance if you would like to participate in the discussion. If you haven’t seen the one we did this week you can check it out below!

Our First Sifu’s Corner Live On Facebook:

We also put up some quick lessons on YouTube this week on Chi Sao. For member’s we have longer lessons, which you can find in the new training at the bottom of this page.

Kung Fu Technique: Wing Chun Chi Sao Trapping Technique

Other than that we are waiting to hear back on quotes for new flooring to getting API’s connected to start our Roku/AppleTV/Google Play Enter Shaolin Lite. And while we are waiting Jamie is testing out tools for our complete makeover from the affiliate, to webinar to marketing systems and much more.

I will be away on a vacation this upcoming week, but no worries Jamie will be here manning the helms. 🙂

The following week Sifu Phu will be on a vacation, so once he gets back we will get the next Abbot training video out. We also are in the process of creating teaching lessons for the Abbots as we have quite a few Abbot member’s who are Sifus or Senseis and some have requested training on how to teach Ngo Dac Na to their students. So we are working on making a section of teaching principles for those interested. 🙂

Now on to your training…

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to update you on my training. I’m working on my Sil Lum Tao mainly. It’s a lot harder than I thought it would be. Sifu Phu makes it look so effortless.

Question: How much drive or tension in my tendons (shoulders, elbows and wrist) should I have? Is it consistent throughout the form or does it vary? For instance, more tension at the point of contact for a punch or deflection and moderate tension elsewhere. I guess this question would apply to combat as well as Sil Lum Tao…correct?

    Btw…loved the Facebook video.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Hi Chris, you should strive to be consistent with your tension. It doesn’t matter if you use a lot of tension or just a little bit. Whatever amount you use, make sure to stay consistent with it throughout the whole form.
