Enter Shaolin Updates | What’s New This Week 6/17/2016

June 17, 2016 By Sifu Larry Rivera 7 Comments

What's New @ Enter Shaolin?Hey family! To say this week has been hectic is an understatement. If you missed last week’s update you can watch the video here.

This week we filmed our first few training videos with the new camera, however they won’t be released to you for about 3 weeks because we have a back log of lessons to give to you still.

We are getting ready to go on a camping trip this week plus learning our new toys and every day E.S. stufff means we’ve been working overtime. No worries though, because Jamie and myself will have our laptops with us and will check customer service as well as make sure you guys and gals get your weekly update next week of course!

Needless to say there is a good chance it will take a little longer to get back to you while we are away as we will only be checking in 1x per day vs. 3-4x. However we will do our best to keep things running smoothly for you.

Now On To Some Fun Stuff…

While this next part may sound funny… A very effective self defense technique is called ‘Monkey Steals Peaches’. Done at exactly the right moment, the perpetrator is taking totally by surprise and is most likely not going to be interested in coming at you.

On a serious note, you have the advantage when you are able to take your opponent by surprise. This particular technique creates that very effect.

Check out this quick self-defense technique Monkey Steals Peaches:

As you might imagine we where pretty excited to start filming with our new video camera.

Let me tell you though, going from our DSLR camera to prosumer video camera is like night and day.

With that said, we filmed a couple of videos for YouTube and ended up with some funny footage that I spliced together for Instagram.

Here’s a good Kung Fu laugh for you…

These clips made me chuckle.. I will be putting up the full videos on YouTube later this week. http://YouTube.com/entertaichi #kungu #martialarts #streetfight #combinations #karate #kravmaga #striking #kungfumasters #martialartslife #wingchun #selfdefense #instaartist #instacool #instalove #instafollwers #instafriend

We also managed to put up a quick YouTube video using the new video camera. We still don’t have our new lighting yet or our new microphone, but we are very pleased with the results thus far!

We recorded this video in 1080 @ 60fps. How does it look?
(You can adjust the settings to see full 1080 @ 60fps by clicking the HD icon in the lower right of the video player and then clicking quality.)

We are really excited for what’s to come in the next several months with Enter Shaolin. We look forward to hearing how you are and what you think about what is on the horizon.

Now on to your training…

As we all know, tajiquan is an internal art. However, it may be difficult to determine (visually) when applied techniques are internal or external; or when the demonstrator is actually applying internal force. I’m assuming that the taiji applications demonstrated on the videos are internal.

Hey brother Joel, all the techniques we teach are internal martial arts. We believe in applying physics principles mixed with energy principles so strength is not an issue or indicator if a person can pull off a technique or not.

Hello Sifu, and everyone at Enter Shaolin. I just thought I’d come by to wish you all blessings. I watch your videos when I have time to, and they’re great. Well, I’ve been in a wheelchair for about a year and was using a cane previous to that for several months, so I truly value the full intent and purpose of martial arts. Before my injuries, I was able to train in some Okinawan Karate and I also practiced Brazilian Jujitsu under a great professor who is actually a doctor at the best hospital in the world that’s here.Very kind spirited, humble, and honest guy btw. I love connecting the similarities I’ve found with the techniques I’ve learned that work for my body mechanically. Development inside is just as important tho, and I’m realizing this more and more every day. Qigong is beneficial to my body but prayer is water for my soul.
