Fundamentally everything we do could be considered some form of kung fu training. The word Kung fu is also more properly pronounced Gong Fu if we break down the word, it means something like this:
Time Spent at Skillful Work, Endeavor or Hard Training
So in theory this means anything that you do could be considered Kung Fu. Martial arts is just one way the word could be used. The meaning of the word helps us better understand what we are trying to accomplish.
To begin to train your martial art with any level of consistency you have to first decide that you indeed are interested in becoming a highly skilled martial artist.
This doesn’t mean that your end goal has to be knowing how to dispatch your opponent with the ease of a Jedi Master. It could mean that your end goal is to create balance within yourself.
Why Is Kung Fu Training Important To You?
It’s important to know why you want to focus on Kung Fu Training. If it is because you want to be able to defend yourself well in a violent situation you have to train to prepare for it.
If you are training simply because you want to slow down the aging process than it’s not so important for you to train to fight other people.
Once you understand why you want dedicate some of your time to kung fu the next thing you have to do is think about when you want to spend time working on your endeavor.
I don’t know too many people that actually wake up everyday looking forward to doing hard work. So rather than thinking you are going to work hard think more along the lines of being consistent in your effort.
For example: If you decide that everyday for 10 minutes before you start the rest of your day you are going to focus on your training then hold yourself accountable to that. I am serious about this part. Do not let anything or any excuse get in the way of that precious 10 minutes a day.
I want to go as far as saying unless you can figure out how to give yourself that 10 mins a day you don’t really love yourself at all. Because let’s be real for a moment. Everyone has 10 minutes a day to put aside for themselves.
I’ve actually had people tell me they don’t know their lives and they don’t even have 10 minutes. They are lying to themselves and have decided to convince themselves that they don’t.
Not you though, you are an amazing specimen of awesomeness. I know this because you are here reading this article right now. And because you have read this far down the page tells me that you are serious about wanting to improve your kung fu training.
