Hi family, first I want to apologize for not getting this out to you last week. As many of you already know I was diagnosed with cancer in April. Ever since then I have been going through a constant process of growth. Looking deeper into myself fixing things that have been broken inside me since I was a kid.
This past week I really had to face some of my biggest obstacles in life. I remember the day I was doing my Tai Chi form and all of a sudden I felt myself connected for the first time ever. I remember thinking it was underwhelming. Nothing changed in my training other than my understanding.
Basically I had a shift in the way I was feeling things so in an instant my skill increased 100%. I went from not fully grasping what it meant to be connected to fully understanding what it meant to be connected. In that moment my sensitivity increased at levels that I couldn’t believe.
I had a similar experience this week. I have been struggling with a lot of issues like Heart break, Fear Of Loss, even truly understanding what it means to truly live in gratitude. And that’s just the tip of the iceburg of issues I have been working through.
What I discovered was that the training I have done in Tai Chi and Qigong applies to emotional healing as well. You always hear people say things like…
…You just have to be happy
Or…
Stop thinking that way!
And really the list of things people say to help usually end up not being helpful at all. Because usually nobody can give you a blueprint on how to change the state your mind is in.
For me, that has been my biggest problem for years. Not knowing the how to do it. Last week I spent a lot of time with myself, with god and really feeling and listening to what is going on inside of my mind and body.
I had a massive shift. I am not the same person I was even last week. Again this is the second time in my life where something major changed in my life in an instant. I am left awestruck in how hard I made something that was so simple to do.
In the coming weeks and months I will share more of this story.. For now I just want to share this thought with you.
Understand that life doesn’t happen to you. Life happens for you. Everything that happens in your life is to help sharpen you and prepare you for stepping into who you where always meant to be. Life is an amazing adventure love the journey.
Honsdale PA Seminar Footage
I started going through the footage. We have hours of great footage, that we will start getting up for you. Unfortunately, after going through all the video footage some of it was just so messed up and out of sync that it would take too long to try and salvage it.
With that said, we are getting better and better everyday at understanding how best to use the equipment we have.

Thank you for sharing and inspiring and bringing these thoughts to my mind.
1. Being a student, trying to learn can be humbling.
Being hurt and trying to heal can feel vulnerable.
To me, both are steps in the right direction.
Three choices, be the “before” person, the “trying” person, or the “after” person. This process repeats itself.
“Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end.” -Semisonic
Accept who you are now, plan who you want to be.
“Failure to plan is planning to fail.”
“Journey of 1,000 steps begins with one.”
If we do not make a decision, then someone else does or did. Not everything in life is a choice or decision.
“ God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference.”
A purpose-driven life can only start after you define or discover your purpose, your goal(s), your priorities.
2. Feel what you feel. Feeling good all the time is not healthy or realistic. Varieties of feelings exist for varieties of situations.
Responses to feelings can be healthy or troublesome.
3. So much help is available if we seek & ask for it.
“It takes a village to raise a child.”
“If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
4. Feel welcome to contact me.

I love the quote from Sifu Larry! Thanks for sharing your story with us. Knowing that other people struggle and grow and come out stronger gives hope when we go through hard times.
Sifu Larry Rivera says
Thanks Melani, we all go through struggle. What’s awesome is we can use those times as learning experience and grow from it.

Sifu Larry, while I know it’s been awhile since you posted the update (which I just got since I’m new), I would like you to know that you have someone else in your corner now. My family is not new to cancer & recently my daughter just kicked it’s butt completely after 19yrs (she’s only 22yrs). It CAN happen & we will be keeping you in our thoughts & prayers.
Bright Blessings
Robbin & family
