WOAHHHHHHH! Where did the week go familia?
Is it just me or did this week zoom by a wee bit too fast? Isn’t interesting how some weeks seem to go faster than others!? Some we are more productive than others and others no matter how hard we try to get our goals accomplished, we just spin our wheels and fall short.
The latter was Sifu Larry and I this week, we were struggling, struggling (Just imagine those last two words to the beat of the Everyday I’m Hustling song as that’s the beat we sing and say it to, lol!)… Or as Les Brown would call it, we had a very character building week. 😉
How about you, how has your week been? What about your training and exercise?
While we were doing some serious character building, we decided to make some changes in how we eat starting next week. I will share more about this journey with you then. And after making this decision we had some serious revelations to why we both experience some serious highs and lows on some days. It’s all been linked to food.
While we eat healthy compared to the standard American diet (the acronym S.A.D. says it all), there is always room for improvement… Even if and Sifu Larry says I’m the eat healthier than any one he knows.
Training this week has been hit or miss. My training partners have been M.I.A. (I should write a post about when training partners fail you and ultimately themselves…), however thankfully I’ve still gotten some lessons in with Sifu Larry and some solo training in as well. Exercise has been consistent, weight lifting 3x a week, jogging 5x a week and C.O.R.E. training 5x a week. Now that’s a win at least! What about you?
The next few weeks I will be doing my best to get my main to do list for Enter Shaolin caught up. Which will include getting to order test tees and hoodies from our new source (Yes, I got those pesky graphics done, finally!). Speaking of, please pray the quality will be fabulous so we can move forward and you can get your Enter Shaolin gear ASAP, FINALLY! Thank you in advance for your prayers!
Also, I will be re-arranging the member’s area (the page you see after you login in) and the training area. Plus, behind the scenes of Enter Shaolin I will be correcting our lead funnel to help us to fund running Enter Shaolin better and if by some miracle of The Almighty I make it through all of those things on top of customer service, tech support, etc… I will finish testing out the new submit a video feature along with start testing out a way for us to incorporate a social element directly into the site where you can keep a training journal, share pictures, etc. AND getting with two fabulous people that offered to help us build this amazing legacy-in-the-making we call Enter Shaolin.
September 21st which is my birthday is coming up soon and I like to do my best to tie up as many loose ends as possible so I can start my personal new year off fresh.
Oh… One more thing before I let you go, we were filming a Sifu’s Corner today which won’t be out for a week or two as we have another one to post for you first…
But here is what happened, and it was seriously the coolest moment I’ve had in my Kung Fu journey thus far! Sifu Larry was filming Sifu Phu and I when something AMAZING happened!!! He had a proud teacher moment and it was really hard for me not to grin ear to ear because I felt his energy of elated happiness and pride first and then saw his expression which matched his energy perfectly in unison. If you are a teacher or parent, it’s that glowing proud and happy as can be look when your student/child finally gets something effortlessly, finally! A glory moment for sure! 🙂
Sifu Phu, I think was also a little taken back, as he wasn’t expecting me to not mess up. He wanted me to pak in a drill, so I started paking each punch… Then he went to fake me out to illustrate what he planned on saying (keep in mind I had no idea what he was about to demonstrate or do) and when he faked me out, instead of falling forward and dropping my hand because I chased him or overthrowing going way over my box/borders, I paked without chasing, without dropping or falling forward and I went right to the point, which in this case was my woo. How awesome is that???
So Sifu Phu had to change it up and say, “Well most people would fall forward like this instead and that’s bad because…” 🙂 Yeah all that hard work is starting to pay off. It may sound like a small feat, but it really isn’t. Any small feat is major one in this thing we call Kung Fu. 😉 Savor the moments not matter how seemingly small they may seem. It’s the little things that matter. <3
Okay enough about me, let’s hear from you! Comment below and let us know what’s on your mind, and how you are doing. Help us to help you!
Now on to your training…

Hi, Geary here.
I just had a non-Kung fu related question: what web hosting do you use?
Also, watching Sifu Phu has given me a renewed desire to go back to Tai Chi. Thanks for your work with the videos. Now all that is needed is a solid holographic partner and I am set!
Thanks, Geary
Hey Gaery you are welcome, we are glad to be able to help out. We have a dedicated hosting plan through SiteGround: https://entershaolin.com/siteground
I love reading about how you’re doing and your struggles and successes. I’ve been working for years to improve my flexibility and at times it seems like I move backwards more than forwards, but persistence has paid off slowly but surely. I recently was able to do the splits! Now I still can’t do that every day (My flexibility comes and goes to a degree. Probably because of hormone changes.) But I can see improvements. I also have noticed that when I go back to the early monthly conditioning exercises you posted they aren’t as hard as they were the first month I did them. Are you going to post more than 3 months of those? I like them even though I have to substitute something else for the sit ups (because of my back) . Thanks for all you guys do!
Hey Melani! Thank you so much for the comment and the love! It is greatly appreciated.
I know what you mean about sometimes your flexibility moves backwards than more forwards, this happens to me with flexibility as well as my strength. I think some of this especially in the strength department is unevenness in energy levels, which I have recently pinpointed to some of my food intake causing this. I have changed this as of 9/8/15, but until my body re-adjusts to burning fat for fuel vs. carbs I won’t be able to say my suspicions are 100% correct just yet. More on that later!
Which eating too many carbs and sugar can also reek havoc not only on energy but also your hormones. As women our hormones fluctuate already, but eating too many carbs and sugars even if it is ‘healthy carbs’ and ‘healthy sugars’ can add to this unevenness vs. helping make us more steady throughout the month.
I am so happy you are noticing that when you re-vist the previous training that it isn’t as hard as it was the first time around. Yes we will be posting a new conditioning routine for each month. These are to coincide with the NDN 101 course as part of the conditioning. 🙂
I am glad you are able to modify them for your needs. Thank you for sharing your progress and commenting! That inspires us! <3
I found your video on youtube The Complete Wing Chun Sil Lum Tao Breakdown Part 1 very informative, good in detail supported by examples
application, so it attracted me into more views of your presentation. I am practicing for number of years in Moy Yat linage, I wonder if there is possible to visit your school in US, what state are you located ?
