Hey family, we love taking vacations! This year we did something we haven’t done in a long time we actually took time away from work. We only worked on Friday last week and that was just to get the weekly update out. The plus side was it felt good to not have our minds on work for a few days, the down side of course is we have been playing catch up all week. 😉
Over our vacation I was thinking a lot about the people who I have trained with and taught in the past. I thought about what is the difference between people who actually attain a high level of skill vs. the people who don’t. There is only 1 trait or one type of personality of a person that ever achieves true success.
That’s good news because, if you want to achieve a high level of skill the solution is rather easy.
To be successful, you must be in it to win it!
What does this mean in regards to Enter Shaolin and your Kung Fu Training? It means staying close to the camp fire so-to -speak. Make the weekly members webinars (if you can’t watch the replays). Be involved in your training meaning (ask questions). When we post on the blog our on Social media, give it some love, comment and share it. Let us know you are paying attention. 😉
Go all in. Save up and get the Abbot membership. Why? Because it doesn’t make sense to pay monthly longterm does it? It also makes sense to be able to get monthly video critiques, which really bridges the gap for online learners. If you are still questioning if you are going to train for the rest of your life, chances are you aren’t going to. If you re-read what I just said above, that’s a hint on what type of person is going obtain a high level of skill vs. a person who doesn’t.
And some of you might be questioning the cost of a lifetime membership though it pays for itself after 3 years and even less with the 15% discounts for seminars. I’ve mentioned before on different platforms for Enter Shaolin and Jamie has mentioned it before on how I’ve spent well over $125k (p.s. still spending money on learning and perfecting my skill today) over the past 23 years of training with Sifu Phu Ngo. I wasn’t rich, I worked any job I could find, crazy hours and even walked in human feces to be able to make my private lessons.
Meaning I had desire and drive to become better and train, which is part of the in it to win it attitude. I could have made excuses and I could have quit, but I decided when I started training again after meeting Sifu Phu, I was never quitting martial arts again. I decided I was worth committing the time, effort and money to be the best version of myself. And I reminded myself of that, every time I thought about quitting.
The good news is, you could get the Abbot membership on sale or even at full price, go to seminars yearly, get all of our certifications and still not even pay 1/3 of what I spent to learn the same materials AND you can rewatch till your heart and skill is content (something I did not have access to), which means there is a high likely hood you will also get to your skill goals a wee bit faster than I did. 😉
So are you in it to win it? Are you worth investing in yourself, maybe saving some money or at least dedicating yourself to being more involved with the training you love that will help you when times get tough? I hope you say YES!
Another thing you need to consider is to plan on going to seminars. Why? Because while you don’t need to have constant instruction from your teacher physically, you still need to know what it feels like to touch hands with someone who does understand how good energy feels and to be able to get those in-person corrections from time-to-time. This is why why we are planning to hold 3 seminars a year for our members. Our first one is in September, go here to register and get the details.
We want you to have the opportunity to train with us live, because we know the people that choose to invest the time and funds into themselves to do so will go the furthest. This doesn’t just apply for martial arts, it also applies to any skill you want to hone in on. Once you can feel energy, you can then begin to self -correct yourself more and more and it is at this stage of your training that you can really start making gains in your skill.
The theme here is being involved with your Kung Fu training 100%!
When we created Enter Shaolin, it was with the idea that we wanted to create a place where income wasn’t a barrier to learning Kung Fu. That’s why a person can start with the Enter Shaolin Lite course and work their way up. You can start training with us for less than $20 a month. That’s less than .70 cents a day. And our full memberships with access to the Training Hall start at less than $2 a day.
Whatever place you start, it should not be your end destination, you should always be planning and if necessary saving for the next step up. Whether it’s to get the lifetime Abbot membership, attend a seminar or to get certified to teach Ngo Dac Na.
And if money is an issue, well our very own Sije Jamie has offered and even challenged to help people to cut the fat in their budget, offered to clean up their resume and recommend the best places to find a job, get a better career, start a business and has a slew of ways you can save and/or make more with no much extra effort. So if you need any help in the funds department, reach out to her here. Speaking of Sije Jamie, she is a perfect example of the in it, to win it attitude. Without that spirit and not waiting for the perfect time that just doesn’t exist and not letting funds or perceived obstacles get in her way, not only would her training have never started… You would without a doubt not being reading this post right now.
Check out how we got started here, if you don’t already know our wild start! 😉
That in it to win it attitude is why I have reached a high level of sensitivity in my training and it’s why this site exists! It’s because I never saw how much it costed me to train, instead I re-arranged my life around my training because I wanted it. Sije Jamie did not look at all the obstacles, heck even both Sifus saying no, didn’t stop her from dreaming and eventually doing!
That’s the secret my friend, you either make a decision that you are going to do whatever it takes to be the best you each day and allow yourself to grow and get back up or you don’t. If you aren’t in it to win it, you will fail, something will always get in the way whether time or money.
I know that sounds a bit harsh, but the reality is kung fu isn’t a hobby, it’s a lifestyle and until you decide to commit to your greatest good and to keep going despite what obstacles may come your way, you won’t succeed.
You have to be all in!
The right time be your best is always NOW. The reason why I am talking about being ALL IN, is because we are having a seminar in September. It’s important that you do everything you can do to make it to the Seminar. Why? Because it’s going to stretch you and help your grow. It’s also going to help you recommit yourself to your goals. If you have a burning desire in your heart to be the best you can be like all of us here at Enter Shaolin do and recommit to each day, then you need to be in D.C. with us. Train with us, hang out with us, hang out with your brothers and sisters.
Remember, birds of a feather flock together. Not only that, it’s at seminars where the magic happens. What I mean by that is, it’s at Seminars where people have their biggest ah ah moments.
I am about tell you something very important!

Wait For It!

Clear your mind and listen very closely to what I am about to tell you because it can literally change your life right now. To achieve a high level of skill in Kung Fu, all you have to do is decide that you will never give up on yourself. The knowledge you gain here will not fail you. Only you can fail you. Simply refuse to allow that to happen. Failure is never an option. Money is just a hurdle to jump over. If you look for solutions and not problems you will find solutions. Focus on what you want and then get tunnel vision.

I’m in to be healthy. My last physical was the best one I’ve had in a long time. My blood pressure is good. I can sleep all night. My joint pains are much better, and I’ve been able to discontinue taking some of the meds. I have been feeling great lately thanks to you guys, Qigong, and Tai Chi. I’ll be doing this until I can’t any more.
