This tip doesn’t just apply to a MMA Fighters. This tip also applies to anyone who wants to improve their ground fighting game. Because at the end of the day we martial artists express the same style from our unique viewpoint. By style I want to echo something the late great Bruce Lee said:
I personally do not believe in the word style. Why? Because, unless there are human beings with three arms and four legs, unless we have another group of human beings that are structurally different from us, there can be no different style of fighting. – Bruce Lee
In order to improve your ground fighting game you need 2 things:
- You need to have good techniques
- You need to use energy correctly
Make no mistake, energy is constant regardless of the style. In other words, Jujitsu, Judo, Wing Chun, etc. In order for any of them to work, they need to learn how to obey the energy.
The good news is having good energy control causes you to have good techniques. It’s like a 2-for-1 deal! 🙂

Georges St-Pierre is one of the all-time greatest MMA fighter
If you haven’t yet seen Georges St-Pierre fight, you are in for a treat. This Frenchman has insane all-around skills and won both welterweight and middleweight titles in the UFC. His record is a remarkable 26-0, with only two losses – both to BJ Penn. His impressive punching power and versatility made him the top welterweight in the world for many years.
The UFC champion rode out his MMA career with nine straight welterweight title defenses. Added to that, he also earned the Golden Gloves title and won the Olympic gold medal. During his reign, he never lost a round. The incredible numbers of wins and losses helped him to gain the status of all-time great MMA fighter. Regardless of the winner of the UFC Heavyweight Championship, St-Pierre has the highest MMA ranking and is considered the best overall fighter ever.
The debate over who is the best MMA fighters has gone through several iterations over the years. Early in the sport, Georges St-Pierre and Anderson Silva were considered the greatest, while in the last few years, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jon Jones, and Kamaru Usman have emerged as the top contenders. In the end, St-Pierre still remains a fan favorite, though he thinks the current crop of fighters is the best.
In the UFC 111 main event, Georges St-Pierre met rising British contender Dan Hardy. Hardy was a heavy hitter in the division, but was a great talker and didn’t have much inside the cage for St-Pierre. Nevertheless, St-Pierre’s victory was a remarkable accomplishment. Despite the harsh criticism, St-Pierre is arguably the greatest MMA fighter of all time.
Royce Gracie helped bring MMA to the forefront
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, Royce Gracie, has contributed to the sport’s popularity by putting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on the map. The Gracie family has a rich history in Brazilian MMA, but Royce helped bring the sport into the mainstream by making it the sport of the future. In his early career, Gracie, who is also a UFC Hall of Fame inductee, showed off the effectiveness of BJJ against larger opponents.
Rorion Gracie was born on January 10, 1952, in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. He began participating in demonstrations as a child to promote his family’s martial arts business. In 1978, he moved to California, where he spread the word about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. For a few years, he worked as a movie extra to support his family’s business.
In 1998, Royce accepted a Jiu-Jitsu challenge from a student of Carlson Gracie, Wallid Ismail. Ismail had previously defeated Renzo Gracie and was convinced that the Carlson school was better than Helio’s. In the match, Ismail defeated Royce by executing a Clock Choke. The resulting TKO ended the fight and helped Royce become an MMA star.
In 1991, Royce Gracie won the Ultimate Fighting Championship, which was a pay-per-view event that pitted practitioners of various martial arts against each other. The UFC was born from a need to prove that a certain martial art style is the best. Royce Gracie was a huge influence in this respect, in fact, he was so young and he only weighed 175 pounds.
While Royce remained relatively unnoticed by most people, his popularity helped propel the sport to the mainstream. Unlike his UFC rival Rickson, Royce’s skinny frame made it possible for him to make submissions look easy. In fact, he once won a UFC championship by submitting three opponents in less than five minutes.
Conor McGregor is a successful MMA fighter
It may surprise some people to learn that Conor McGregor has multiple tattoos. His first tattoo was of a gorilla biting his heart and is located between his last name and nickname. He also has a tattoo of a winged crucifix on the back of his neck and rose bushes. His body is covered in many human and animal figures, including writing and animals. McGregor credits visualization for his success and says that he uses it to get the edge he needs in MMA fights.
While some think that Conor McGregor is overrated, it is important to keep in mind that his dominance inside the Octagon was unheard of. His success in mixed martial arts is so volatile, that only the elite can sustain dominance for extended periods of time. Fortunately for McGregor, he is still relatively young and could still have a great career ahead of him. There is very little room for error, so McGregor should not be considered a “one-hit wonder” yet.
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Conor Anthony McGregor is one of those professional MMA fighters. He has fought for two divisions of Cage Warriors and won all of his fights within the first two rounds. Conor McGregor’s impressive resume includes a win over Marcus Brimage in the UFC in 2014.
After years of training and competing in MMA, Conor McGregor became a star after announcing his retirement on Twitter in March 2019. Before his MMA debut, he was broke and living off of government aid. He had received $235 a week and was collecting assistance from the Irish government. After winning the UFC, McGregor had a very successful career and is now one of the most successful MMA fighters of all time.
Conor McGregor is not only an MMA superstar but also a boxing superstar. In 2017, his fight against Floyd Mayweather was the highest-selling combat sports PPV of all time. His ten-round boxing match against Mayweather is the second-most-watched boxing match ever. He has a massive fan following and is now one of the richest athletes in the world.
Women’s MMA is becoming popular
While men have long dominated the sport of mixed martial arts, women have remained under-represented. While it’s true that women do compete in combat sports, the sport has faced challenges in breaking through the male-dominated culture. But the popularity of women MMA fighters continues to increase. Here are the most important factors behind its success. The first factor is the gender of the fighters. Many men see women as inferior and instinctively protective of them. Women have to overcome this problem if they hope to be taken seriously.
The UFC has committed to increasing its representation of women in its promotion, adding a women’s strawweight division last year. While women still only make up a tiny percentage of the UFC roster, the increasing popularity of women in the sport has contributed to the growth of the sport. Ultimately, embracing female athletes is a cultural step in the right direction. The sport should be proud to include women as part of its roster of athletes
Cris Cyborg is the scariest female fighter in women’s MMA. Her physique and 15-year combat sports career make her an intimidating opponent. Despite her featherweight weight limit, Cyborg has defeated most female fighters in her professional career. In her first pro fight, she lost to an unnamed fighter but later went on to go undefeated and win three promotions. However, her popularity isn’t going to fade anytime soon.

The UFC has also made the sport more accessible to women. The UFC has an entire women’s roster now, featuring some of the top athletes in the sport. Although Dana White once declared that women would never compete in the UFC, he has now publicly admitted that women are more than capable of competing in the sport. Moreover, women are more likely to win if they are given the opportunity to fight the best men in the world.
In the US, women have become popular in the UFC, which has a female division. Invicta FC has also played a significant role in this evolution. Its debut in 2013 helped create the first division for women in the UFC. At the time, the UFC’s Strawweight division had only one fighter from this division. The second division was added in 2014, featuring a 115-pound strawweight. Carla Esparza emerged as the champion of season 20 and opened the door for a new generation of female mixed martial artists.
